Description

Japanese Chin - Small - Adult - Male - Dog - Rusty (IA)

Name: Rusty (IA) DOB: 9-11-07 Adoption Donation: $300.00 Current foster location: Boone, IA Date Posted: 9-13-09 As a Volunteer Rescue Organization - please allow us up to 48 hours to respond to your inquiries and applications. We will answer as quickly as we can. You must complete our online application if you are interested in adopting this fur-kid! Please visit www.luvachinrescue.org for our application! HEALTH: Good. Rusty is neutered & current on all shots and weighs approx #. BACKGROUND: Rusty was released to us by a breeder in eastern Texas. He has some very unique coloring with his rusty brown coat, Other than that, he has ALL the characteristics of chin! ADDITIONAL NOTES: UPDATE 12-17-09: Russ is a NUT. He is running around, hogging toys, loving his doggy bed in the corner. He is out and about so much more. He has a few favorite rugs to plop on and watch people. He still is easily intimidated, and will turn and walk off if he feels he is 'in the way' or if you walk his direction. He does allow being held and petted, although he will stiffen up. He has started to hop on the couch and sit next to someone, not on their lap, but he will lie quietly next to you. These are HUGE steps for Rusty! He loves loves LOVES to have his toys tossed all over so he can 'round em up'! He is so happy and really coming far. Unexperienced young children will make him very nervous. He doesn't like to be handled, but he loves to be played with and given treats. He's a gem! A note from his foster mom: 9-18-09: Holy Macaroni Batman! Today Rusty was laughing--I kid you not, this dog makes a laughing face and has been known to make little noises as he does it! He got so happy to see me come out of my bedroom this morning that when I said "Good morning Russ Bus" he did his huge grin and started to chin spin! He was then prancing, yes! Captain Cower was prancing in the open with a human witness! He ran, chased Mia and Ellie, the played tag, real tag where they would sneak up behind each other and tap the other's hiney with a paw! Rusty is still a work in progress but he is trying very hard to accept companionship of people. He is shy and prefers to be alone, but we are working with him and letting him come into his own skin. We will keep you updated on him! Is Rusty the match for you!! Are you ready for me to join your family? If you think that you would like me to come and live with you please contact Peg at info@luvachinrescue.org and she can answer any questions you might have as well as get you the adoption application that you will need to fill out . These folks here want me to have a special loving home so you will need to provide personal and vet references as well as have a home visit before I can come and live with you. My adoption donation is $300.00, and personally I think I'm worth every penny. Due to assessment evaluation, they would like me to stay in foster care for a minimum of 2 weeks to help me get ready for my new family. I will be allowed to travel out of state so don't be afraid to ask about me (please note: we must follow the airline restrictions on temps so please be aware of that, any costs associated with travel will be your responsibility). I would love to have a special person to love me. See you soon..... NOTE: All our adoption donations go towards our ever mounting vet bills. Thank you for your support. We are also, always, looking for more foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can help THANK YOU! PLEASE Note! ADOPTION DONATIONS: When you see the adoption donation amounts, we'd like you to know that 90% of the time the donation amount doesn't even come close to covering our kid's doctor bills. This is definitely not a money-making venture. We're usually so far in the hole but the important thing is to get these kids the medical care they need and help them find the perfect family. That's our top priority. POTTY TRAINING: Please note that we NEVER say our kids are 100% potty-trained. How naive would we be to say something like that? If you're willing to be trained by your new family member, please fill out an application. If you're looking for a totally potty-trained kid, you may as well stop at the toy store on your way home from work and buy a stuffed toy because those are the only reliable ones to NOT potty in your home. There is a period of adjustment, not just for the new family member but for everyone in the house. You must be patient, understanding, and willing to work with your new family member. It can take anywhere from several days to several months. You must be 100% committed to this, it's a lifetime commitment.
